- Information found: Arthur Green (DD, Jewish Theological Seminary, 1967; PhD; Brandeis University, 1975) is the founding dean and rector of the Hebrew College Rabbinical School. A nationally recognized historian of Jewish religion and a theologian, he has lectured widely and taught Jewish mysticism, Hasidism, and theology to several generations of students at the University of Pennsylvania; the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, where he served as both dean and president; Brandeis University; and Hebrew College. Green is the founder of Havurat Shalom, an egalitarian Jewish community in Somerville, MA, and remains a leading independent figure in the Jewish renewal movement. He is the author or editor of more than a dozen books, most recently The Heart of the Matter (JPS, 2015) and Judaism's Ten Best Ideas: A Brief Guide for Seekers (Jewish Lights, 2015). Ariel Evan Mayse (Rabbi, Beit Midrash Har-El, Jerusalem, 2015; PhD, Harvard University, 2015) is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Stanford University. He formerly served as director of Jewish Studies and a visiting assistant professor of Modern Jewish Thought at Hebrew College in Newton, MA. He is also editor of From the Depth of the Well: An Anthology of Jewish Mysticism (Paulist, 2014); co-editor of the two-volume collection Speaking Torah: Spiritual Teachings From Around the Maggid's Table (Jewish Lights, 2013); and author of several scholarly and popular articles on Jewish mysticism.
