He received his name on October 4, 1730, when he was baptized at All Saints church in Newcastle upon Tyne, England) ecip p. 402 (from the available evidence it seems that the compiler of The Cashaway Psalmody died within a few days of August 5, 1771, passing way among his Regular Baptist singers and friends at Thomas James's plantation house near Cashaway Neck)
