In 1868 Booth issued the Christian Mission Hymn Book, a compilation of hymns specifically designed for his organization, and in 1875 he published a further collection of hymns, Revival Music, this time including tunes. A third collection, Salvation Army Songs, followed in 1878, from which time the term 'song' has generally replaced 'hymn' in Salvation Army music. Music was never intended to become a major feature of the Salvation Army, but from the beginning the movement attracted a number of individuals who were also instrumentalists.)
