Dyer; ordained priest on May 1, 1953; received doctorate in Sacred Theology in 1955; taught Patristics and Systematic Theology at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, Mundelein, where he served as Dean of Studies from 1967 to 1978; pecame pastor of St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth in 1978, where he served until his retirement in 1996; after a brief sabbatical, served as weekend presider at St. Julian Emard Parish in Elk Grove Village; ministered to the retirement community of Sedgebrook, Lincolnshire, Illinois until his death; author and editor: founded the theological journal Chicago Studies; published a weekly column "Andragogy" that was published in numerous parish bulletins; wrote and narrated the Three Minute Theologian, audio cassette presentation based on current themes and Catholic Teaching; awareded the John Courtney Muarray medal for distinguished contributions to theology in 1982; died 3 December [2017])
