Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: page 564 (Arthur Young Lloyd, political scientist, born January 12, 1908 in Lisman, Webster County, Kentucky. Received a bachelor's degree in history from Western Kentucky University in 1926. Was principal of Webster County High School in Wheatcroft, Ky. during 1926-1928. Attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University 1928-1934 where he received a master's and a Ph.D. in political science. Taught political science at Morehead State University from 1931 to 1936, where he served the last two years as head of the history and political science department. Joined the U. S. Army in 1942 where he was made a colonel. Served in state government, as president of a tobacco company, in the Kentucky National Guard and vice president of the Kentucky Historical Society (1976-1982) then president (1982-1984). Lectured at the University of Kentucky (1968-1970) and at Eastern Kentucky University (1974-1975). Died October 17, 1986 in Lexington, Ky. and is buried in Frankfort, Ky.)
