Education: graduated from Hamilton College in 1877; began his ministry studies at St. Andrew's Divinity School, Syracuse, NY, but transferred to Berkeley Divinity School, Middleton, CT, where he was ordained a deacon in 1881. Ministry: assistant minister and later associate minister and rector of Calvary Church in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was ordained a priest in 1882; became dean of the Episcopal Theological School in 1894. Publications: published thirty-four books, several essays and magazine articles, and two sets of school readers.)
