- Information found: (Miguel Covarrubias; José Miguel Covarrubias Duclaud; b. 22 November 1904; d. 4 February 1957; Mexican painter and caricaturist, ethnologist and art historian; in 1924 he moved to New York City, eventually becoming one of Vanity Fair magazine's premier caricaturists; he also began to design sets and costumes for the theater. Miguel returned to live in Mexico City where he continued to paint, illustrate and write. Covarrubias is known for his analysis of the pre-Columbian art of Mesoamerica, particularly that of the Olmec culture, and his theory of Mexican cultural diffusion to the north, particularly to the Mississippian Native American Indian cultures)
