The firm Haskins & Sells was founded in 1893. The U.S. offices of this company retained the name until 1978. In 1924 the U.K. firm of Deloitte, Plender, Griffiths & Co. merged with the foreign offices of Haskins & Sells to become Deloitte, Plender, Haskins & Sells. In 1970 this overseas operation changed its name to Deloitte & Co. In 1978 both the U.S. and U.K. operations changed their names to Deloitte, Haskins & Sells.
