Father Tibor died peacefully on Saturday, May 17th at Reni Goupil House, Pickering, Ontario in his 81st year, the 62nd year of his religious life. He was born on July 28, 1927 in Banhida, Komarom-Es, Hungary. As a young Jesuit he escaped from Hungary, and studied in various parts of Europe. He was ordained deacon and priest in Granada, Spain in 1957. He completed his studies with a doctorate in theology from the Gregorian University in Rome on the virtue of charity in the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. He came to Canada in 1962 and joined a significant community of Hungarian Jesuits in Canada. From 1962 through to 1997, Tibor was a professor of Theology at Regis College in Toronto, becoming a research professor in his later years. Since 1994, most of his ministry has been scholarly writing.
