After retiring in 2015, he continues to teach occasionally at Trinity as an associate faculty member. He studied at Sheffield University in the 1970s, completing his degree and postgraduate research in the Department of Biblical Studies. John lives with his wife Maya in the Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales, where they run their house Bron y Llys as a B&B and mini-retreat centre.
